We’re just days away from the launch of this year’s NW Youth Careers Expo and the excitement is building. Here at PWA Mission Control, we’ve already begun the countdown to the March 14th event at the Oregon Convention Center.

A few numbers help tell the story of our 13th annual career-exploration event. (It’s a big deal.)

6,800+:  Students expected

3,000+: Students registered from Portland Public Schools

70+: Participating high schools

31: Participating school districts

28: Participating Oregon school districts

3: Participating SW Washington school districts

2: Participating states (OK, that was too easy.)

180+: One-way mileage from Umatilla and Hermiston high schools (Umatilla County), those traveling the greatest distance.

170+: Exhibitors

10: Industry sectors represented

40: Expo sponsors

1,000+: Mock interviews to be held with students

150: Volunteers conducting mock interviewers

10: Typical length, in minutes, of mock interview (whew!)

1: Free annual PWA Breakfast being held to celebrate and strengthen the ties between high schools, employers and the community. See you at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 14!

The Expo shows students the region’s amazing diversity of career opportunities, along with the skills and education needed for those jobs. Our generous Expo sponsors make possible this event and help support our year-round work with Portland high schools.
