Best career advice: Make it a point to learn something new every day. Some days that might be something very small, but each new piece of knowledge will add up exponentially to help you identify your strengths and what brings you joy (or what does not), which will ultimately help guide you towards a fulfilling career path.
Most memorable job as a teenager: Working for the parks department maintenance team in my hometown each summer. The work was challenging but also very rewarding. I learned many life skills that are helpful to this day…building maintenance, irrigation, landscaping, painting and more - all while working outdoors in the beautiful Northwest summers.
Something I learned in high school about work: Even as a new member of the workforce, you can add tremendous value to the company/organization you are working for. Have confidence in yourself and the unique talents you bring to the table. You don’t need to know everything, you just have to show up, give your best, ask questions and believe in yourself.
What draws me to serve PWA: The students! It is so inspiring to attend PWA Career Days and see the students’ excitement for career opportunities that they may not have known were even possible before attending. PWA provides a vital link to our next generation of workforce and I’m excited for the opportunity to support and share the mission.
