PWA Youth Impact Council
Building Leadership and Career Readiness Skills
We are seeking motivated high school students to join our Youth Impact Council for 2024-25. Over the course of 7 monthly meetings, students will serve as advisory peer leaders while also building relationships and developing career readiness skills for their own future. This is a paid role!
Applications are OPEN and are accepted on a rolling deadline, apply by October 17, 2024, for priority consideration.
In this program, students will:
Learn career readiness skills around resume writing, interviewing, networking and more.
Be able to leverage their leadership and program development experience for future resumes and career opportunities.
GET PAID: Students who complete the program requirement will receive a $200 completion stipend at the end of the term.
Program Requirements
To complete the YIC program and collect the stipend, students must:

Attendance: Attend at least 5 of the 7 meetings.

Leadership: Attend the NW Youth Careers Expo and Breakfast

Career preparation: Complete a resume and Mock Interview

Program development: Complete the YIC final project evaluating part of PWA’s programming.
APPLICATION AND ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility and requirements: Students in grades 10-12 are eligible. Priority is given to students from PWA partner districts (North Clackamas, Parkrose, Reynolds, PPS, Gresham-Barlow and Oregon Charter Academy). Students do not need expertise or prior experience, only an interest in career readiness and bringing their voice to PWA programs and events.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:
Attending board meetings: All YIC students are invited to attend PWA Board Meetings. This is a great optional opportunity to get a behind the scenes window into PWA’s work. Students can practice their public speaking by sharing briefly about their experience on the council.
Networking: Sessions will include speakers from HR and Leadership professions, and give students the opportunity and skills to connect and expand their professional networks. When participating in the Expo, students will have the opportunity to explore and connect with employers and other professionals.
Additional opportunities: Other paid and unpaid optional opportunities to engage with PWA’s programs may arise.
