PWA Creative Careers Mentorship
The Creative Careers Mentor Program allows students the opportunity to visit a variety of prominent creative firms to learn about career opportunities and practice their creativity with the support of experts in design, business and storytelling. Join us to explore careers at some of Portland’s leading creative agencies, connect with inspiring professionals, develop new skills, and discover great jobs involving storytelling, business and design.
Program dates: July 15-18, 2024
Who can apply: Students entering grades 10-12 in Fall and attending any Portland-metro high school. (Priority given to PWA partner districts; all welcome as space permits.)
Inclusion: PWA welcomes students from all racial backgrounds and ethnicities, citizenship statuses, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, religions and abilities. YOU are welcome here.
More program details: This is a morning program ending by 12:30 pm or 1 pm each day. Light lunch and morning snacks included. Completion stipend is $200. Transportation assistance (TriMet passes) available. More program details and full itineraries will be available in early June. During this weeklong mentorship aimed at students entering grades 10-12, you will:
- Go behind the scenes at leading Portland creative agencies, from a small boutique studio to a top ad firm
- Practice your skills through hands-on experiences and simulations (all experience levels welcome)
- Connect with caring professionals and learn how people get paid for their ideas, skills and creativity
- Get tips and coaching for starting your career
- Connect with other students who want to find creative, meaningful careers, just like you.
How to apply: Apply using the button above. The deadline is rolling. (Apply by Friday, May 31, 2024 for priority consideration.) PWA staff will approve a first round of applicants in May, then fill any remaining spots and build a waitlist in early June. PWA can accept 20 students total.
Host firms: Partner employer firms in 2024 include Wieden+Kennedy, Instrument, Thesis and Upswell.
