Hey students! Join us July 26-29, 2021, to invest in yourself, meet inspiring women, and learn how to move from your first job toward your dream job. This is a PAID summer career empowerment opportunity.
Who can apply: Students entering grades 10-12 in fall 2021 and attending any Portland-metro high school. (Priority given to Parkrose, Reynolds, Gresham-Barlow, North Clackamas and PPS; all welcome as space permits.). Given the impact of the pandemic of women on the workforce, these sessions are tailored for students who identify as female or non-binary.
Where: Parkrose High School in NE Portland. One potential walking field trip. Students will meet in a classroom or outside and follow all school and county safety protocols.
When: Monday, July 26 through Thursday, July 29, 9:45 am to 12:30 pm (includes lunch at noon and a light breakfast)
Stipend and food: Students who complete the full program will receive a $200 stipend. Complimentary breakfast snacks will be included. Free lunch is served at Parkrose High at noon.
More program details: Whether you have a job or are looking for one, this paid career experience can help you build skills, confidence and networks for your next job and your future career. During this four-day academy aimed at students entering grades 10-12, you will:
- connect with women in inspiring careers and hear their tips
- map your strengths and learn advanced job search skills
- create standout resumes
- learn how to write cover letters that shine
- get budgeting tips to make the most of your paychecks
- practice job interviews with confidence
Best of all, you’ll connect with other students who have goals and dreams, just like you.
How to apply: Fill out the interest form ASAP. We will contact you right away and let you know if you are accepted. We plan to accept about 15-20 students total.
