Students from Portland Public Schools and the David Douglas School District are donning hard hats this summer to explore careers in construction through hands-on learning.
Some PWA volunteers are company leaders; others are just starting out. Either way, they share a common desire to help Portland teenagers gain access to good careers. (We often hear them saying, “I wish someone had helped ME figure this stuff out when I was in high school!”)
We love accompanying Portland high school students when they go behind-the-scenes at leading employers for real-world career exploration. See photos and read student feedback here.
The ACE Mentor Program of Oregon this week awarded $75,000 in college scholarships to 16 Portland-area seniors interested in pursuing careers in architecture, construction management and engineering.
