PWA Mental Health Careers Day

Explore careers in mental health with Portland Street Response and the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon. Hear firsthand from professionals about what it is like to work in the mental health space, helping people in crisis. Learn about careers such as mental health crisis responder, peer support specialist and community health worker, and discover early certifications you can earn while you learn. Learn and practice techniques such as motivational interviewing and de-escalation techniques. Participate in a workshop on healthy communication and boundary-setting, held by leadership coach Megan Bauer of Megan B Coaching.
How to attend:
Step 1: Fill out the student interest form ASAP. (Type your email address and cell number carefully so we can reach you!)
Step 2: Have your parent/guardian fill out the parent/guardian permission form ASAP. (Your application can’t be considered until this is done.) Students who do this early have much better luck at being accepted.
Step 3: PWA will contact you to let you know if you’re accepted or waitlisted, or if the career day is full.
Step 4: Show up and have an amazing time!
Who can attend:
High school students in the Portland metro area are encouraged and welcome to apply. We prioritize students from our partner school districts when space is limited (Gresham-Barlow, North Clackamas, Parkrose Portland Public Schools, Reynolds, Oregon Charter Academy).
