Meet a PWA Board Member: Kelly Haines
Kelly Haines was elected to the Portland Workforce Alliance Board of Directors in June 2026.
Kelly serves as the Clean Energy Workforce Program Manager at Portland General Electric (PGE), where she leads labor and workforce partnerships, workforce grant initiatives, Responsible Contractor Policy implementation, and PGE's participation in the Oregon Clean Energy Workforce Coalition. Her work focuses on strengthening connections between the energy industry, labor, training providers, and workforce partners to support Oregon's growing energy sector.
Prior to PGE, she managed sector strategies and quality jobs initiatives at Worksystems and staffed the Metropolitan Alliance for Workforce Equity, a coalition advancing equity in the construction trades. She holds a Bachelor's degree from The Evergreen State College and a Master's in Urban Studies from Portland State University. Outside of work, Kelly enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with her wife, children, and numerous pets.
- Best career advice: Just go for it! Try new things, do your best and find what energizes you.
- A memorable job as a teenager: My first job was picking blueberries during the summers at Hodges Blueberry Farm!
- Something I learned in high school about work: Show up on time, don’t be afraid to do the dishes, make the bagels, or wipe the counters. Be excited for the paycheck.
- What draws me to serve PWA: I love the idea of supporting people to get out there, connect with others, and exploring where they can do what they love and be of service to community!
Thank you, Kelly, for your service to the community through PWA!
