The 13th annual NW Youth Careers Expo on Tuesday, March 14, will have several new features this year. Here are three of our favorites:

Ten Career Talks: Teachers looking for new ways to help students maximize their time at the Expo can encourage them to attend a 20-minute Career Talk. We are offering 10 Career Talks this year on three different topics:

  • How to Ace your Job Interview
  • How to Land a Summer Job
  • Uncover Hidden, High-Paying Jobs

Click here for session times and more information. Drop-ins are welcome, space permitting! (Seating is ample.) Students who attend a Career Talk will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Larger space: We are moving to a larger exhibit hall at the Oregon Convention Center this year to improve traffic flow and create more space for hands-on exhibits. The big landmark outside the new hall is a dragon boat.

“Look for the Lightbulb” campaign: Many of the employers at the Expo offer summer jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities for high school students. Look for the green lightbulb symbol at exhibitor booths to find these employers. Click here to learn more.

Other Expo updates:

Click here to browse the list of exhibiting employers and find printable industry spotlights in major sectors such as health care, technology, construction, arts & communication, and manufacturing. Click here for our roundup of teacher resources, including handouts, posters, videos and the Expo Teacher Packet.

More than 1,000 students have already signed up for mock interviews, with another 500 expected. Click here to read more about mock interviews at the Expo.

Stay tuned for more Expo updates! Our complimentary Expo Resource Guide, a printed guide with a map and directory, will be available for students and exhibitors on  Expo morning.
