January 2, 2023 -- Portland Workforce Alliance is hiring! We are seeking a communications & program coordinator who can further the mission of PWA.

PWA is seeking a student-centered individual who believes in the value of young people and the power of community-based career exploration. We are looking for a mission-driven team player who can help PWA build and sustain its work through meaningful programming and compelling storytelling.

The job is full-time with a pay range of $45,000 to $54,000 DOE. The application period will close when the position is filled.

PWA started in 2005 and has grown into a thriving, volunteer-driven nonprofit with an active board of directors and a cohesive staff. We work with Portland-area high schools to connect students with employers in every major employment sector, including health care, technology, design, construction, energy and manufacturing. We also work closely with the ACE Mentor Program of Oregon, a robust career mentoring program that shares our mission and goals.

In 2023, we will have a six-person team, including a contracted event coordinator and a part-time support role.

PWA is a coalition of business, labor, high schools and postsecondary institutions. We believe in big dreams and good careers for all high school students. Our board, staff and volunteers see meaningful access to career development as a matter of social and economic justice.

We serve more than 5,000 students a year through career-learning experiences such as career days, mentorships and the annual NW Youth Careers Expo. We welcome all students, with extra outreach to higher-poverty and marginalized communities.  Our goal is for students to develop career aspirations and make informed, inspired choices about their education after high school. This work is part of a strategy to boost Oregon’s graduation rate and help regional employers build their pipeline of talent.
