Career Day at Howard S. Wright
December 13 | 8:45 am - 1:30 pm
Dream of a career in construction management? Spend the day at the Howard S. Wright!
Career Day Information
Learn about careers within construction management with the nonprofit Portland Workforce Alliance!
- Go behind the scenes with Howard S. Wright to see Portland’s booming construction industry! Talk with professionals about why they love their job.
- Learn what it takes to build impressive buildings, highways, bridges, and railway and water projects.
- Do hands-on activities (such as building information modeling, bidding & project management, immersive 3D/4D virtual reality) related to a current company project, then tour a construction site to see those plans come to life. This year, the construction site is the Portland Building (the one with the Portlandia statue).
Please note that this Career Day will be ending at a different location than the start. It will start in the HSW offices in the Pearl District, and end downtown at the near-finished Portland Building (home of the Portlandia statue). Trimet field trip passes will be provided to students, who will take public transit from one location to the other.
