Hey students! Join us on June 26-29, 2023, to explore careers at some of Portland’s leading creative agencies, connect with inspiring professionals, develop new skills, and discover great jobs involving storytelling, business and design.
This is a PAID summer career mentorship opportunity to unleash your creativity, skills and ideas.
Who can apply: Students entering grades 10-12 in Fall 2023 and attending any Portland-metro high school. (Priority given to PWA partner districts; all welcome as space permits.)
Deadline: Rolling. Apply by May 31, 2023 for priority consideration.

Program dates: Monday, June 26, through Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Time: Mornings. (Approximately 9 am to 12:30 pm.)
Locations: Daily sessions are hosted by creative agencies near TriMet and MAX Light Rail in downtown and inner eastside Portland. Employer hosts include Upswell Studios, FINE, Ziba Design, Instrument and Wieden+Kennedy, Wednesday will include an optional afternoon visit to the Portland Art Museum, including an exhibit on the Oscar-winning film, "Pinocchio," created by the local ShadowMachine stop-motion animation studio.
Stipend and food: Students who attend all four sessions and complete the program will receive a $200 stipend. Complimentary food, such as snacks or light meals, will be included.
Transportation: Students are responsible for their own transportation. All locations are on or near major TriMet routes and MAX light rail lines. Free TriMet Youth Passes available upon request.
More program details: More program details and full itineraries will be available in early June. During this four-day mentorship aimed at students entering grades 10-12, you will:
- Go behind the scenes at leading Portland creative agencies, from a small boutique studio to a top ad firm
- Practice your skills through hands-on experiences and simulations (all experience levels welcome)
- Connect with caring professionals and learn how people get paid for their ideas, skills and creativity
- Get tips and coaching for starting your career
- Connect with other students who want to find creative, meaningful careers, just like you.
How to apply: Application link is here. The deadline is rolling. (Apply by Wednesday, May 31, 2023 for priority consideration.) PWA staff will approve a first round of applicants in May, then fill any remaining spots and build a waitlist in early June. PWA can accept up to 20 students total.
