If you like your job, you have a story to tell.

And if someone helped you along the way, you can do the same for others.

The nonprofit Portland Workforce Alliance is looking for volunteers to talk with Portland high school students about their jobs and career paths. People from all industries are welcome, including health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, business, public service and design.

One opportunity is the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 19, when several Portland campuses will host on-campus career exploration days. But volunteers are needed year-round to visit classrooms and talk with students about their careers, education paths and the skills needed to thrive in their industry.

(Middle school students need inspiration, too: Let us know if you’d enjoy talking with a 7th grade class sometime this year about the cool opportunities in your field.)

Contact us! If you’re interested, contact PWA at susan@portlandworkforcealliance.org and tell us:

  • Your name, job and industry
  • If you’re potentially available to speak with students on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 19
  • If you’re potentially available to speak to a class at another time during this school year
  • If you can think of 1-3 other people from your company who might enjoy talking with students sometime this year, if their schedule permits

We will follow up with you. Thank you for supporting Portland students and schools through PWA.
