Job interviews can be fun, if you’re feeling prepared (and scary, if you’re not).

That’s why we’re recruiting HR professionals and other caring adults with interviewing experience to help Portland high school students get ready for their first job interviews.

What: Career talks, resume workshops and mock interviews
When: Wednesday morning, Oct 11, 2017
Where: Participating high school campuses in Portland Public Schools

As a volunteer, you can do mock interviews with students and provide them a safe, friendly opportunity to receive positive feedback and helpful tips. You can also conduct a resume workshop or give a career presentation on interviewing essentials or landing a summer job. (Materials provided.)

We have volunteer opportunities year round! Please contact us at volunteer@portlandworkforcealliance.org if  you would like occasional emails about volunteer opportunities such as these.

About the organizers: The nonprofit Portland Workforce Alliance and Portland HR Management Association team up regularly to help provide career-readiness experiences for high school students. For the Oct. 11 event, we are assisting PPS career coordinators with volunteer recruitment for career panels and interview preparation.

Our biggest partnership takes place at the annual NW Youth Careers Expo: In 2017, volunteers provided  students from Oregon and SW Washington with mock job interviews!
